It’s that time of year again. The shops have been full of chocolate eggs and fluffy bunnies for weeks and many working folk are enjoying a long weekend. Christians are giving it up for their saviour, while Jews have been celebrating the freeing of their people from slavery. The traditional Easter egg is a pagan symbol of new life and has little to do with the teachings of monotheistic religions. However, it fits well into the idea of a new life to come after Christ has risen, the Jewish tribes are no longer enslaved people and baby lambs announcing the coming of spring. To me pretty solid proof that different religious and spiritual teachings are just different explanations of the very same thing. While I’m enjoying my long weekend eating, bonding and boogieing with friends, the weather has not displayed any spring-like tendencies just yet which seems to make it more challenging for me to catch the new-life vibe. Although collective celebrations can be a powerful phenomenon, it doesn’t mean one’s own mindset is automatically in step with it, but that is okay. A new quarter, a new season, a new life says we can try again or continue are fruitful endeavours. So wherever you are, continue the journey or try again. Happy new beginnings. Happy Easter.
